During this difficult period I would like to express my support for the citizens of Raanana and the Israeli people.
As I write these lines, it seems like a cease-fire is on its way.

I wish from the bottom of my heart that the endeavors made by everyone, along with the support of the international community, and among others by President Sarkozy, will lead to an enduring and sincere peace.

During several of my visits to your country, actually as the vice -president of the Friendship Association France-Israel, I witnessed the fear and destruction among the innocent civil population, caused by the rocket attacks. Moreover, it makes sense to me, that like in any other democratic country, Israel would put the security of its citizens at her top priority.

I have read your last editorial on the Raanana municipal website and I was touched by the solidarity and the courage of the citizens of your city and their support of the refugees of the South of Israel.

Finally, on the occasion of the New Year, I wish that the dialog, the understanding and the mutual respect between the people will become a common language to all.
