The "Giving Ahuza a Fresh Face" Project
Hits the Road

Immediately following the holidays, the Raanana Municipality will begin a project to upgrade Ahuza Street, on the section between Ben Gurion and Jabotinsky Streets. This the first stage of a project, which will gradually be implemented on different sections of the streets, in order to enable the street's residents and storeowners to continue their daily routine as much as possible.

Project Objectives

· Improving and expanding the public space for the people who use the street; including pedestrians, people with special needs, senior citizens and business owners.

· Increasing the cultural activity along Ahuza Street, positioning it as a main municipal center.

· Improving the appearance of Ahuza Street is the first stage of the city center "planning vision" (Ahuza Central Business Center), which incorporates design, cultural and business aspects.

Project Principles

· To design the street to fit in harmoniously with its surroundings and to provide its pedestrians with superior quality of life.

· The upgrade will provide additional areas for the benefit of the pedestrians, and cultural and leisure activities will be conducted right on the street.

· Expanding the sidewalks will enable the addition of a bike path, as well as sitting areas and flowerbeds.

· Emphasis will be placed on making the street accessible for the benefit of the handicapped and the physically impaired, and on improving the safety of the pedestrians.

· A uniform and unique architectural design will include signage, street lights, shrubbery, sitting areas, water features and statues, benches, street furniture etc.

· In conjunction with business owners, the commercial appearance of the street will be improved, including renovating the colonnade and the faחades of the shops.

· The Municipality will encourage homeowners committees (Vaadei Habayit) to join the project by renovating the facades of the street's residential buildings. Within the framework of the project, infrastructure work will be carried out, including replacing the water line, improving the sewage and drainage systems and laying a high tension power line by the Electric Company.
