The Raanana Municipality has reorganized its home garbage and garden trimmings collection, in order to improve the level of the city's cleanliness and to once again, raise the conditions of the quality of life and the environment in the city.

Fortunately, we have been blessed with a caring and attentive population, which works together with the municipality in a spirit of cooperation and understanding.  We are confident that together we can work toward improving the city's cleanliness.

Garbage Collection:

In order to ensure that the residents' sleep is not disturbed, garbage collection will commence at 6 a.m.  Once a year, home garbage containers are washed using a water pressure technique.  Please help us maintain clean garbage rooms.  Make sure the garbage bags are closed tightly and only place them into the garbage cans and not outside them!

Unusual Amounts of Garbage:

We are aware that at times we all have an unusual amount of garbage, such as construction garbage, old appliances or furniture, etc.  When it is necessary to remove such a large amount of garbage, please contact 107, the Raanana hotline, in order to find out how to dispose of it.

Garden trimmings / Dry Garbage Collection

Garden trimmings includes:  garden trimmings, cartons, old furniture and junk.  This does not include construction garbage.  Construction garbage must be disposed of at the municipal garbage site, after being authorized by the department.  Particularly large amounts of garbage may be disposed of there, with the authorization of the department.

Compact garden trimmings (grass, leaves, etc.) should be collected in large plastic bags. 

Garden trimmings should be taken out a day before the collection, in the afternoon.  Do not take out the trimmings on the day of the collection, at any hour.  The trimmings should be placed on the edge of the sidewalk.  Make sure that it is not next to any electricity or telephone poles, in order to enable the collection truck convenient and free access to it.

Container Collection

In the business areas, including Kiryat Etgarim, there are only large containers for garbage collection.  The garbage from these containers is collected each and every day.

Extermination

Spraying plants and foliage with insecticide.

In order to prevent fires, and damage caused by animals (particularly rodents) and the blockage of sewers, and to maintain a clean and well kept city appearance, the department sprays the foliage and plants with insecticides citywide twice a year, according to a set annual program: once before the summer season and at the beginning of winter.  During the course of the year, periodic sprayings are performed as is necessary.

The annual extermination is conducted in public areas, sewers, sidewalks, sides of the road etc.

Pest Control

Spraying in public areas, citywide, is conducted according to the annual plan.  In addition, the department also performs periodic sprayings, in answer to the residents' complaints.

In order to prevent pest damage, residents are requested to maintain cleanliness near their homes, to avoid collecting junk, garden trimmings and to dry up any accumulation of water.

The department is in charge of pest control, control of mosquito larvae incubation, rats and mice burrows and it removes bees and wasps nests and catches snakes.

The department sprays for mosquitoes on a regular basis in the city's known incubation spots. In addition, the department conducts inspections in residential areas, in response to the residents' notification and handles problems when they arise.

Rodent Control, including rats and mice, is carried out only in the yards of homes, in response to the residents' complaints.  Emergency treatment of snakes and swarms of bees and wasps are handled on the day the complaint is reported.
