Don't Keep it In!

The center's goal is to locate and treat women, men and children who are involved in situations involving family violence; to provide them with tools for change and help them adopt a new way of life.

The center uses a number of intervention methods:  therapy, prevention and information, and developing community services.

Therapy
• Referrals are received from various community institutions:  the police, the court system, probation officers, emergency hotlines, women's organizations, the health system, employees at the social services division, independent referrals, etc.
• Risk assessment
• Professional assessment with regard to level of immediate danger.
• Immediate treatment of emergencies.  Transfer to shelters for battered women.
• Information regarding services, referrals to the national insurance institute, legal counsel, rent subsidies, and additional institutions that provide services to populations involved in domestic violence.
• Individual therapy:  For battered women and battering men, and vice versa.
• Group therapy:  A men's group that focuses on anger management.  A women¡¦s group is scheduled to open.
• Couples intervention with a focus on violence.

Prevention and Information
• Producing a brochure for the department
• Work relations and introduction to the various community institutions related to this area.
• Series of workshops for Raanana Municipality employees.
• Informative and introductory meetings.
• Annual municipal event to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Development of Community Services
• "Woman Sister" Project:  Women from the community volunteer to provide support to women who are victims of violence:  Recruiting and superivisng the volunteers is handled by the department's employees.
• "Matan" Project: Members of the Bnei Akiva Youth Movement mentor children from family's dealing with domestic violence.
• Enrichment Program for the department's clients:  (To open shortly) - Monthly lectures on various topics, such as:  parenting, couples relationships, spirituality, self fulfilment, etc.
• Patients are referred to supportive frameworks for continued treatment, when necessary.
