: The Raanana Municipality has begun distributing red ribbons to residents, to be tied to their cars, as part of its extensive efforts to change the driving patterns and reduce the death-toll on the roads.
In a joint campaign launched by the Municipal Headquarters for Road Safety and the National Authority for Road Safety, three stations have been opened to distribute the red ribbons: • The Municipal Moked – Sundays-Thursdays from 8:00 to 16:00 • Lev Hapark Community Center: Sundays-Thursdays from 10:00-13:00, 16:00-19:00 • Yad LaBanim Box Office – Sundays-Thursdays from 9:00 to 19:00
Raanana residents may come to one of these stations to receive a red ribbon for their car.
Mayor Nahum Hofree: “The Raanana Municipality considers road safety to be of the utmost importance and invests considerable resources in order to create a safe driving culture in the city, to reduce the number of road accidents and the number of fatalities and injuries on Israeli roads. Road safety education is a part of the city’s curriculum, starting in preschool, and continuing through elementary, middle and high school and we also work to educate adults and seniors.”
Deputy Mayor, Attorney Orit Sayad Yitzchaki – Chairwoman of the Municipal Committee for Road Safety: “Road accidents in Israel take a very high toll each year of precious lives. The activity related to this subject is a public interest shared by us all, both the municipality and the residents. We are all committed to ‘think about life’ and to strive to attain a change in behavior on the road, for both pedestrians and drivers.”
