Thursday, 3.6.10, at the Municipal Youth Center in Gan Hanesi’im Park – 16:30 to 19:30

Raanana’s Annual Youth Employment Fair, for teens ages 15 and older, will be held on Thursday, 3.6.10, at the Youth Center in Gan Hanesi’im, from 16:30 to 19:30 in the evening.  The fair is the joint initiative of the Municipal Youth Council and the Raanana Municipality’s Department for Youth and Young Adults and it is designed to provide as many summer job offers for youth as possible.

At the fair, over 800 jobs will be on offer, an unprecedented number, were located by members of the youth council and include work as counselors, sales and marketing jobs, waiters and catering, fast food restaurants, distributing newspapers, etc.

At the fair, there will be a booth run by the government employment office that will issue workers’ cards for young people ages 14 and older.  To get one, you must bring in your identity card or a photo copy of your parents’ identity card, a medical authorization and a passport photo.

In addition, information about youth rights at work will be available.

The annual event is a very successful one, and helps the city’s youth find jobs each year.

Mayor Nahum Hofree:  “The Employment Fair is part of the successful cooperation between us and the youth representatives on behalf of our children.  The Municipal Youth Council has once again proven its ability to lead the city’s youth and to create significant frameworks for them during the vacation.  I consider finding summer employment opportunities for our youth to be of the utmost importance. It helps to develop their independence, empowerment and provides them with skills for entering the job market, when they reach adulthood.

Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub, director of the Culture, Youth and Leisure Division:  “I consider the fair and youth summer employment to be of great importance and congratulate the youth council for its excellent work.  I call upon our youth to attend the fair and learn of their rights in the work place.  One of our goals is to raise awareness regarding the rights of youth in the workplace and to develop their sense of civil awareness.  I call upon our youth to report instances in which their rights have been violated.”
