Throughout the month of June, the Municipal Library’s adult library will present the exhibition “And He Took One of the Stone’s of the Place” – which presents books and creative work by Raanana’s authors and poets, in order to promote local creative work and to provide a forum to encourage Raanana’s writers.

• Youth Competition – “Story on a Postcard” – Teenagers are invited to take part in a competition, in which they illustrate postcards based on stories. The winning postcard will be printed and distributed to the public. Other choice postcards will be presented at the Municipal Youth Center on 10.6.10. The teens are invited to submit the illustrated postcards by 1.6.10 in the boxes set up at the Municipal Youth Center, the HaMartef Club, the Municipal Library and Hashachar Library.
• 10:00 Visitors’ Center, the Municipal Library – “The Lady with the Camellias” – Sarah Ostrov speaks about A. Duma’s book, with clips from the musical – “La Traviata”.
• 20:30 Adult Library: Authors’ Dialogue: in honor of his new book, Author Myron H. Isaacson will be hosted by and speak with author Dov Elboim. Selected readings: Sasson Gabai and Efrat Ben Tzur, with musical accompaniment and singers Eli Magen and Adi Renart.
Wednesday, 2.6.10 – Book Week Events Opening
• 18:00, Yad LaBanim Plaza: “Raanana – A City That Reads and Writes” – The city’s authors will sign their books for the public at large; activity stations for children of all ages; children’s literature: The Fisherman and the Golden Fish; a Magic Castle – where children will learn magic tricks, wizardry, taming demons, etc.; Robinson Crusoe and Pocahontas. The event will be attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree and Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub – director of the Culture, Youth and Leisure Division.
• 2.6.10-12.6.10 – Book Fair at the Municipal Library Plaza and Yad LaBanim – from 18:00 to 23:00.

• 18:00 – Yad LaBanim Plaza, Theater Stories: Activity corners focusing on children stories – “Where the Wild Things Are” – by Maurice Sendak; “Itamar Walks on the Walks” by David Grossman; “Dragon – There’s No Such Thing” by Jack Bennet; “The Most Wonderful Egg in the World”.
• 19:00 – The HaMishkan Center for Music and Art and the “Room of Your Own” Group present the Women Workers 2 Festival – “Let the Words Act in You”: An evening that includes 50 artists – a celebration of art and books: workshops, exhibitions, street performances, second hand book fair, café. At 21:00, the main performance will include – all on one stage – theater, music, dance and pantomime directed by Limor Yitzchayek. Tickets: NIS 50 including participation in workshops.

• 20:00 – Children’s Library – “White Night – Dreaming of Books” – Treasure Hunt: Nighttime activity for elementary school students including stories, films, theater, music and arts and crafts, with Gavriel Hadar, Ayelet Yagoda, Irit Tamir, etc.
