For the first time, the Raanana Municipality will hold a women and business conference, which is an offshoot of the municipal project – Business Greenhouse.  This is a cooperative project of the Social Services Division and the Association for the Economic Empowerment of Women.

The Business Greenhouse project has been in operation for the past year at the Adult Education Center, and includes a group of 30 women who wish to attaint he skills necessary to open a small business at home, to manage an independent business and to work in marketing.  The women’s group participated in a financial savings program workshop, in which they invest their own money and the money of the association of the business they started.

The Business Greenhouse is another step in the Raanana Municipality’s activity, designed to promote the status of women in society and provide them with the tools for an independent successful life.  Over the years, the social services division has started a number of activity frameworks, including “Your Own Business” – a course for women on how to open a business from home; “Women and Business Forum and now the Business Greenhouse.

The conference will be held on Tuesday, 25.5.10, from 20:00 at Eshkol Hapayis and will include a Women and Business Panel, led by Orna Leshem, Director of the Social Services Division.  The “Financial Opportunities and Risks” Panel will include Ilana Shoshan, Ruth Sirkis, Semadar Shir, Iris Barnea and Ayelet Eilani, Director of the Association of the Economic Empowerment of Women.

Each of the participants on the panel will tell her own story of business growth.  In addition, there will be booths selling artwork, baked goods, paintings, cosmetics, and jewelry etc. – all products produced by graduates of the Business Greenhouse course.  There will also be a fashion show including clothing from a shop opened by one of the course’s graduates, and the women of the Business Greenhouse will model the clothing.  Singer Yael Liron will perform in her show “Life is Beautiful with Song and Humor”.
