: The goal of the event is to introduce the community to the hostel’s activity and create a dialogue between its residents and the community at large.
The event will be held on Monday, 7.6.10 from 16:00 to 21:00 at Beit Chalomi located at 90 Pardes Meshutaf and will include the sale of designer clothing, art objects, housewares, jewelry, a farmers’ market and a gallery with the residents’ artwork on display in the fields of photography and drawings on canvas.
Beit Chalomi is a hostel run by AKIM Israel that has been in operation in Raanana for the past six years. It offers a home to 24 residents ages 21 and older. The residents attend classes and activities and go to work each day.
At Beit Chalomi, the residents receive assistance in running their daily lives and in meeting their needs from trained counselors and therapists.
Mayor Nahum Hofree: “Beit Chalomi offers opportunities for AKIM residents to open a new page in their lives. This is an opportunity for them to live independently in a supportive and protected environment, as part of the community, as people with equal rights. I am proud that Raanana and its residents have opened their hearts to the special needs community and consider them to be part of our community. It is our philosophy to become closer to the special needs population and to offer joint activities for both them and the community at large, particularly among children and youth.”
