Raanana, a sustainable city, is constantly expanding its efforts to encourage and assimilate environmental values among its younger generation.

Recently, 13 recycling corners were installed at the city’s elementary schools, designed especially by artist Yossi Peled.  Creating these recycling corners is the result of a cooperative effort between the elementary and middle school education department, the schools, the Parks and Recreation Division, the Regional Environmental Protection Department and the artist.

In the recycling stations, cans for collecting paper, deposit bottles, products for reuse and batteries and CDs and DVDs.

At all the schools, ceremonies were held to inaugurate the new recycling corners, which were attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree.

Installing the recycling corners was part of the municipal education system’s efforts to implement educational environmental programs in which the students learn about the new to sort their garbage, recycle and reuse materials.

Mayor Nahum Hofree:  “The Raanana Municipality works constantly to expand the circle of partners in its green and sustainable activities.  The installation of the recycling stations is an essential step in encouraging our students to adopt a prudent, responsible lifestyle and behavior that is considerate of nature.”
