The annual memorial ceremony marking 13 years since the death of Raanana resident, attorney Anat Rosen Winter was held last week at the Anat Rosen-Winter Municipal Television Studio which is operated by the Lev Hapark Municipal Communications Center.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree, Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub and Deputy Mayor Aryeh Friedman, Attorney Doron Barzilai, Chairman of the Tele Aviv and central Region Committee at the  Israeli Bar as well as members of the Rosen Family, city council members, and friends.  Former Supreme Court Chief Justice, Mr. Meir Shamgar participated in the ceremony and lectured on “Constitution Now or in Far Distant Future”.

During the ceremony, family members spoke movingly in her memory, including her daughter Shani, whose life was saved during the attack, thanks to her mother who protected her with her own body.  A documentary film of Anat’s life was screened.
The late Anat Rosen-Winter was born and raised in Raanana.  She was murdered on the eve of Purim, the 21st of March 1997, in a terrorist attack, while sitting with her baby daughter Shani at the Tel Aviv café - Apropos. Anat was killed on the spot together with two additional women who were at the café.  Her baby daughter, Shani, who was six months old at the time, was injured; however, she was saved from the attack after her mother protected her with her own body. Anat was 30 years old when she was killed.

Mayor Nahum Hofree
:  “Anat has left us longing for this charming young lady, who became a lovely woman, wife, successful attorney and loving mother.  She was a special friend to all who surrounded her.  Here in Raanana, the memory of Anat has become a part of us.  She is especially missed, remembered and loved by her parents, siblings and daughter, who remember her every day, miss her and carry her memory in their hearts always.”
