: Hailed as success, the second meeting of the Raanana Conference on National High-tech Policy held at the Open University, attracted delegates who participated in several fascinating meetings concerning new labor laws in Israel and their effect on High Tech. Many business leaders, members of economic councils and the Histadrut and Government representatives attended.
The Raanana Municipality, in cooperation with the Open University and the Raanana Conference on National Hi-tech Policy, will hold the 3rd conference for national hi-tech policy. Prior to the main conference, two bi-monthly meetings were held at the Raanana University. Meeting bi-monthly, a discussion was held on the various aspects of the new labor legislation and how it implications for the high tech industry and its employees.
The conference was hosted by Mayor Nahum Hofree. Also participating were Professor Aryeh Scope, Director of the Raanana Conference as well as MK Robert Elituv, Head of the High Tech lobby in the Knesset; Dr. Aviad Bar Haim, expert in Organizational Behavior in the Faculty of Management and Economics at the Open University; Eyal Waldman CEO Melonics; Adv. Uriel Lyn President of the Chamber of Commerce; Ziv Mendel, CEO John Bryce Training, part of the Matrix Group. Amos Ron, former CEO of Ranir, and Vice Chairman of the Raanana Conference moderated the event.
On the same day, just prior to opening the conference, Mayor Nahum Hofree met several CEOs of High Tech companies which operate in Raanana , MK Robert Elituv , Professor Arie Scope and Vice President of the Open University. They discussed the activities of the high tech lobby in the Knesset, the opportunity to initiate legislation and amendments to existing laws they would like to suggest. Professor Scope, former GM of Microsoft Israel, opened the proceedings. He was followed by other Conference members including Shlomo Gradman, CEO ASG (Founder of the Ra’anana Conference); Shlomo Vax, President of the Information and Electronics Union; Dr. Shuki Gleitman, Former Chief Scientist; Moshe Alon, part owner of Calanit-Carmon, President of SAP Israel; Micky Steiner; Amos Ron, former General Manager of the Ports and Railways Authority and other high tech industry leaders. During the past few years, Raanana has become a primary location for high tech firms. In the past two years, there have been two conferences reviewing national high tech policy while shaping the future of Israel’s high tech industries. Many key industry personnel have participated in these conferences.
