: The city of Raanana is preparing to receive over 10,000 runners from across the country, who will participate in Raanana’s 21st Marathon, to be held on Friday, 19.3.10 from 8:30 to 12:30 and will include three heats:
The Nir Nahari 3 K Popular Marathon – will leave at 9:30 from Derech Hapark Street and surround the area of Raanana Park.
The 10K Hand Bicycle Marathon for the Disabled – will leave at 10:00 from Derech Hapark Street along a course that includes Weizman, Yair Stern, Derech Hachaklaim, Kfar Nachman, Keren Hayesod, Hahistadrut, Borochov, Ahuza, Sderot Yerushalayim with the finish line at Raanana Park.
The 10K Competitive Marathon, for individuals and groups: – will leave at 10:15 from Derech Hapark Street along a course that includes Weizman, Yair Stern, Derech Hachaklaim, Kfar Nachman, Keren Hayesod, Hahistadrut, Borochov, Ahuza, Sderot Yerushalayim with the finish line at Raanana Park.
This year, for the first time, it was decided to change the marathon’s route and include Raanana’s main street, Ahuza, to enable all of the city’s residents to take part and enjoy the athletic experience.
Pursuant to the police instructions, the following streets will be closed to traffic between the hours of 8:30 to 12:30:
Ahuza Street – There will be no traffic allowed traveling west from the corner of Ahuza and Kazan to the corner of Ahuza and Yerushalayim. The traffic in the easterly direction will be permitted. Due to the closing of the east to west axis along Ahuza, traffic will be diverted to the Pardes Meshutaf axis in westward direction. Derech Hapark – no traffic along the entire street. Yerushalayim – between the corners of Ahuza and Weizman Hanesher Street – no traffic along the entire street. Hasaifan Street – no traffic along the entire street. Weizman Street – Between Derech Hapark to Keren Hayesod – traffic allowed in the westward direction, alternatively. Derech Kfar Nachman – No entry allowed to Derech Kfar Nachman from the Weizman junction to its other end from both directions. No access allowed to the cemetery. Dov Hoz Street – entrance and exit will be allowed only from Esther Hamalca Street. Keren Hayesod Street – From north to south, no traffic allowed. From south to north, will be open alternatively. Hahistadrut Street – Closed in both direcgtionhs from Keren Hayesod to Borochov corners. Borochov Street – closed to traffic from the corner of Tzifman to the corner of Ahuza.
Marathon registration: on the municipal website: www.raanana.muni.il or at the Shvoong website: www.shvoong.co.il. There will be no registration for the competitive heat on the day of the marathon.
