: Robotics Department Students Will Represent Israel at the International Competition in Atlanta for the 5th Time!
Raanana’s education system continues to succeed in promoting technology leadership! At the FIRST national competition, held last week at Tel Aviv’s Nokia Arena, Aviv High School robotics students won the prestigious chairman’s award. The robotics students will represent Israel at the international robotics competition in Atlanta, this April, for the fifth time The annual robotics competition, held annually, is designed to encourage the younger generation to study technology and science. The competition is part of the international FIRST robotics competition organized by the FIRST Association and sponsored by NASA.
Each year, the competition focuses on a different robotic skill. This year, the robots were tested for their ability to play soccer, and various criteria were examined, including the group’s team work, technological applications and the technological contribution to the community.
The Aviv robotics students excelled in their contribution to the teaching of technology in the community. As part of the robotic activity, the students adopted groups of students from all across the country, helping and guiding them in completing their assignments. In addition, the students adopted the Israel Wheelchair Basketball team, built them a website, helped them train and volunteered to tutor children of new immigrants at the city’s absorption center. In addition, the Aviv robotics department organized a robotics competition for middle school students held at their high school.
Mayor Nahum Hofree met with the school principal and winning students in his office, congratulated on their impressive achievement and wished them good luck at the international competition.
