:The traditional Raanana Marathon was a great success. It was held this past Friday, 19.3.10. Close to 15,000 people, including thousands of soldiers in uniform and students, ran the traditional and colorful race, which for the first time, passed through Raanana’s main street, Ahuza.

: The Marathon included three heats: The Nir Nahari 3 K Popular Marathon, the 10K Hand Bicycle Marathon for the Disabled and the 10K Competitive Marathon, for individuals and groups. Mayor Nahum Hofree participated in the 10K competitive race.
Winners of the Men’s Competitive Heat: Noam Ne’eman from Hapoel Holon – 31.52 minutes. Noga Makata of the IDF – 32.18 minutes. Agza Moada of the IDF – 32.53 minutes.
Winners of the Women’s Competitive Heat: Maor Tairi – 37.05 minutes. Svetlana Bachmand – 38.53 minutes. Yael Levine – 42.42 minutes.
Winners of the Men’s Hand Bicycle Marathon for the Disabled Shimi Sahayek from ILAN – 25.48 minutes. Yisrael Switch from Tel Aviv’s Beit Halochem – 27.33 minutes. Maor Dgani-Fish from Tel Aviv’s Beit Halochem – 27.48 minutes.
Winners of the Women’s Hand Bicycle Marathon for the Disabled Helen Bodinsky from Tel Aviv’s Beit Halochem – 32.16 minutes. Ora Berenstein from Tel Aviv’s Beit Halochem – 39.19 minutes. Anat Yahalom Dimshon from Tel Aviv’s Beit Halochem – 41.03 minutes.
Mayor Nahum Hofree presented trophies to the first place winners. All those who completed the marathon received certificates and medals for their participation and those participating in the competitive race also received a tee shirt.
