: An exhibition by artist Edna Melamed, entitled “Genesis”, has opened at the Raanana Park’s Gallery by the Lake. Genesis connotes beginning, creation, a moment of conception, growth and renewal.
The grand opening took place last week and was attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree and Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub – director of the Culture, Youth and Leisure Division.
About the exhibition and the artist:
In this present series, the artist, who was born in Iran, presents artwork that focuses on a Biblical theme. As a member of a traditional family, the world of the Bible is of great interest to her.
The artist connects to her feelings and inner world and that is where her original ideas are conceived. With a sensitive and sure hand, she draws and etches on putty and jute surfaces and builds textures that create the illusion of three dimensions.
The artist chooses shades of earth and spices, colors of her childhood. Her incessant search for renewal and excitement are striking in her work and help her express her energetic and stormy moods.
She uses iron, wood, jute and tar to express her emotions, which lead the viewer to the mysteries of the artist’s inner and exciting world.
