: Mayor Nahum Hofree: “As a public institution, we must serve as an example to the residents by encouraging green normative and responsible behavior with respect to our nature and environment. We must all work to reduce the amount of garbage we produce, to recycle home products, to save water and energy consumption, in order to keep our world healthier and a better place for future generations”
On the eve of Shavuot, as part of the municipal policy to make Raanana a sustainable city, the Raanana Municipality distributed reusable green shopping bags to be used instead of plastic bags which pollute the environment and to encourage employees to reduce their use of plastic bags.
The bags, with the logo – “Raanana Buys Green”, is another step in a series of green measures taken by the municipality to increase the awareness of the residents in general, including the municipal employees, to maintain a lifestyle which protects the environment.
Mayor Nahum Hofree: “As a public institution, we must serve as an example to the residents by encouraging green normative and responsible behavior with respect to our nature and environment. We must all work to reduce the amount of garbage we produce, to recycle home products, to save water and energy consumption, in order to keep our world healthier and a better place for future generations.”
Raanana leads the way in terms of environmental measures and considers itself to be committed to the global effort to protect the planet Earth. As part of the municipality’s policies to turn Raanana into a Green Municipality, additional steps have been taken at the municipality, including: the use of recycled ink cartridges, installing garbage cans to separate wet and dry waste, installing receptacles for the collection of paper for recycling and encouraging employees to send emails within the organization and not printed information – in order to discourage the unnecessary use of paper.
