Municipal employees, students and dozens of residents took part in a variety of sports activities held across the city

The Raanana Municipality has continued its tradition of active participation in the popular International challenge which was held on the 27th of May across Raanana and included diverse activities for Raanana residents.

The International Challenge Day is a day of intercity/intercountry sports activities throughout the world.  This year, Raanana competed against the Romania city, Resita.  It was a friendly competition between international communities, the purpose of which was to motivate people of all ages to become involved in athletic activity.

During the morning hours, ball tournaments were held at Raanana Park, with the participation of members of various municipal departments.  The tournaments were attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree who arrived at the park on his bicycle.  Also in participation were City Manager Amir Shutzman and other municipal officials.  In addition, a volleyball match for the elementary school students was held, a sports activity at the middle schools and leisure games at the nursery schools.

During the afternoon, various sports activities were held at Raanana’s various sports centers between the hours of 17:30 and 22:00, including:  basketball at the Aviv High School Sports Center, early childhood activities for parents and children at the Hasharon Middle School Sports Center, volleyball activity at the Kiryat Sharet Sports Center, karate at the Rimon Middle School Sports Center and basketball at the Ostrovsky High School Sports Center.

Mayor Nahum Hofree:  “The International Challenge Day is the direct continuation of a long series of annual activities, planned by the Municipality, to encourage popular and competitive sports among the residents and took part in this event which was a colorful and interactive experience and I hope to see you again next year.
