16.7.10 – 15.9.10

This week, photographer Dror Einav’s exhibition – “Second Shift” opened in the lobby of Raanana’s municipal City Hall.

Dror Einav uses his camera to sensitively document the daily situations of his mother, Kati Einav, a teacher at a Raanana elementary school.  His photographed situations, which were prepared in ‘snapshot’ style, and capture her during her long work hours, at times until the night time, in a natural manner.  Sometimes his mother is in the center of the photo and in other situations, the still objects are what tell her story.

The collection of photographs in this collection depict the dedication of the teacher to her work, paying attention to both the smaller and larger details, exhibiting patience with her students and involvement in their scholastic progress, remaining up-to-date on their social lives, settling fights and disagreements, organizing group activities during and after school hours and helping new students become a part of the class.  She is not only a teacher, but an exemplary educator.

Dror Einav’s involvement in his mother’s professional life and this photographic project enable him to shed light on the various aspects of the Israeli teacher, of which we are generally unaware.

The official opening will be held on Friday, 16.7.10 at 13:00 in the city hall lobby.  Visiting hours:  Sunday-Thursday – 9:00 to 17:00.

Curator:  Orna Fichman
