Last week, the Raanana Municipality’s security patrol men caught a suspect breaking into one of the city’s homes.

The event occurred last Thursday.  Following a call received by the Municipal Moked made by two Raanana residents who complained that a suspect was trying to break in to a house on Saadia Ben-Or Street, a security patrol car was immediately dispatched to the scene.

The patrolmen pursued the suspect on foot for a number of blocks, until they were able to apprehend him next to Keren Hayesod Street.  The patrolmen held the suspect until the Raanana Police commander arrived on the scene and the suspect was handed over to the police.

In a case of robbery that took place at one of the city’s businesses last Sunday, the municipal safety patrol assisted the Israel Police in a pursuit to apprehend two suspects who stole NIS 4,000 from a business.  At the end of the pursuit, one suspect was apprehended who had run away on foot, and the other suspect that had escaped by car was apprehended in Herzliya.

Another successful case took place two weeks ago, during which Raanana Municipality inspectors in cooperation with the security patrols and the police succeeded in catching a burglar ‘in the act’ as he broke in to a home.  At the end of the pursuit, the suspect was apprehended at a gas station near North Raanana Junction, and the property that he tried to steal was left near the home in Raanana.

Following this case, Mayor Nahum Hofree spoke with the two residents who had reported the suspect and thanked them for their initiative.  He also sent them a personal letter, praising them for their vigilance and for displaying civic responsibility.
