A group of 11th graders from Raanana’s Ostrovsky High School visited patients at the Beit Levinstein Hospital, dressed up as clowns, and handed out surprises, balloons and sweets to the hospital’s patients.

Their visit was part of the high school’s activities as an experimental school in the field of leadership and encouraging volunteer activity – between the students and the entire community.  The group of 11th graders took part in an empowerment workshop at the school that included twenty sessions in the field of acting, some of which were dedicated to activity on behalf of the community.

The workshop was run by actor Ran Bechor who also prepared the students for their visit to Levinstein Hospital together with the vice principal, Sarah Givon.

During their activity at the hospital, the students visited the hospital school, where they met patients and learned about the activity of the pediatrics department in general and the school in particular.  Afterward, the students visited the pediatric departments and the youth and soldiers departments, and they presented patients with gifts and treats.  The patients, their family members and the hospital staff warmly welcomed the students and thanked them for their initiative.

Mayor Nahum Hofree :  “Our education system promotes and encourages all its students to take part in helping others and I am proud of all of our children who take an active part and who initiate such encounters, which bring a smile on the faces of the patients and brings some joy and happiness into their lives.”
