: The competition is held annually in memory of the late Eran Tzvi Wechsler, a Raanana resident and former athlete. Eran Tzvi Wechsler, who passed away in 2004, represented Israel in track competitions in Israel and internationally and won gold medals over the years. His family members decided to memorialize him by naming the athletics competition after him, in order to commemorate his love for the sport and to help it continue among the younger generation.
The young athletes competed in 5 individual categories: long jump, high jump, shot put, 600 meter race and 60 meter race; and one group category – 60 meter relay race (X 4 participants).
In first place in the girls category was Meged Elementary School and in first place for the boys’ category – Shaked Elementary School. Yachdav Elementary School won second place in the girls’ category and Meged won second place in the boys’ category.
Mayor Nahum Hofree: “I am proud of the municipal tradition that promotes athletic activity and physical fitness among its younger generation. My congratulations to our young athletes who have displayed excellent athletic skill.”
