Mayor Nahum Hofree:  “I believe that proper and efficient management is the key to a leading municipality.  Our municipal employees have proven public responsibility in handling the money of Raanana residents”

At an official ceremony held last week in Jerusalem, the Interior Minister awarded the city of Raanana an The Haim Koversky Award for Proper Management for 2009.

Mayor Nahum Hofree, along with his two deputy mayors, Ronit Weintraub and Aryeh Friedman, received the award from Interior Minister, Eli Yishai and Finance Minister, Dr. Yuval Steinitz.

The award was presented to Raanana for its adherence to the rules of budget management for 2008, as they were set by the Ministry of the Interior, including:  a current deficit of up to 1% of the approved budget, an accumulative deficit of up to 12.5% of the approved budget, management expenses of up to 16% of the approved budget and municipal tax collection of up to 60% of the taxes due.

This award is another in a list of titles and awards received by the Raanana Municipality for its endeavors, quality and variety of services and its method of management.  Among these is an AA+ ranking by Maalot Ltd. for 2009.  In a survey conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics, Raanana was ranked in first place in the country for resident satisfaction in 2008, and TheMarker ranked Raanana in first palce among Israeli cities for 2008.
