: The spectacular dance parade is an annual municipal tradition on Yom Ha’atzmaut, and this year’s theme is: “International Dance Carnival – Different Shades of Israeli Dance”.
The Shalom Amar Dance Parade will be held on Tuesday, 20.4.10 at 17:00 along Ahuza Street. A spectacular parade of 1,500 dancers from the Dance Academy, 24 elementary schools and Batei Hatalmid Dance troupes, dance departments at the city’s schools, and the 2010 Supplementary Education Dance Troupes as well as guest troupes from across the country. The parade will also include musical bands, costumes and dancing for the entire family.
The dance troupes will perform dances to suit this year’s theme, such as tarantella, Can-Can, country, Irish, Cuban, African, Indian, Greek, Russian, Flamenco, Tango, Salsa and other dance styles. Children from the dance academy will dance in circles, couples and in lines, to carnival and Horah music.
The dance parade will commence with members of volunteer organizations, veterans, school bands, soccer academies and Hapoel Raanana, the boys’ basketball and girls’ basketball academy, Bnei Hasharon, handball academy, Raananet Netball league, Hasharon Bicycle Group, new immigrants and immigrant organizations, Macabi Argentina, HaBrika Club, TZAMERET, the study centers all taking part alongside large colorful floats.
The culmination will include 24 dance troupe, with 1,500 dancers dancing together in two Israeli folkdances. At the end of the parade, the thousands of spectators will join the circles of dances and Ahuza Street will be filled with enthusiastic folk dancers celebrating the holiday.
The parade will begin at 17:00 and proceed along Ahuza Street, from Rambam and HaGalil to Brandeis and Tel Chai Streets.
According to the orders of the Israel Police, on Friday, 16.4.10, during the rehearsal for the parade, the following streets will be closed to traffic: Hanesi’im from Ha’hayil to Hamahtarot – from 7:30 to 12:30. On 19.4.10 from 23:00 until 20.4.10 at 19:00 – no parking will be permitted at the Hamashbir, Bank Hapoalim and Shufersol parking lots and on streets intersecting Ahuza Street on the section between Kazan and Keren Hayesod. Cars parked in these restricted areas will be towed to the cemetery at the corner of Hess and Klauzner.
On the day of the parade, from 15:00 to 19:00, Ahuza Street will be closed to traffic from the corner of Kazan to Keren Hayesod. Side streets leading to Ahuza in this section will also be closed to traffic and there will be no access to Ahuza Street.
