: This week, the exhibition of artist, Chana Cohen, ‘Fields’ will open in the lobby of the Raanana City Hall. The exhibition includes spectacular colorful paintings, which display fields and landscapes.
Chana Cohen, a graduate of the ‘Studio’, Raanana’s art college, and a Raanana resident, uses a rich palette of color, using a combination of sketching and color splotches, light vs. dark, giving a sense of space as well as a more cloistered feeling, clear vs. opaque.
In her series of paintings of fields, Cohen remains faithful to an idealistic outlook, which is expressed in her never-ending search for perfection. Each of her paintings begins with a ‘journey’ of colorful pencils and pastel oil paints, which share the same paper, a mapping of lines or splotches. The finished artwork provides a new format to the landscape that is in continuous state of change.
Chana’s vitality permeates her artwork and provides it with her own trademark. Her artistic talent succeeds in capturing the uniqueness of the Galilean landscape and her impression of this area using a dimension that goes beyond physical time, creating her own private nature.
Raanana – a green city – has chosen to give Chana a platform at the City Hall for her exhibition, which deals with nature and its changes, as part of its extensive activity on the subject of promoting sustainability in the community and assimilating values of environmental protection.
