The Raanana Symphonette Orchestra was established in 1991, as part of the program designed to assist with the absorption of immigrant artists.  This program was co-sponsored by the Raanana Municipality, the Center for Absorption of Immigrant Artists of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Jewish Agency and the Ministry of Absorption.

The orchestra boasts 46 musicians, of which 36 are immigrants from the former Soviet Union, and a dozen others are graduates of the IDF outstanding musicians division.  This is a young vibrant orchestra that has, since its inception, earned the critical praise of its audiences for its diverse, exiting and educational musical endeavors.

Aside from legendary classical pieces by the best composers, such as, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Dvorjak and others, the Symphonette's repertoire also includes lighter music.  This music is contemporary and whimsical, and a pure delight to listen to.  It entices audiences to keep coming back to the concert hall.

The Raanana Symphonette regularly gives performances in Israel's concert halls, television programs and festivals. In addition, the orchestra regularly plays for children studying in early childhood programs and schools, due to its philosophy that the future of classical music lies in the development of a new and open audience and that a love for music must be developed at a young age.

Over the years, the Symphonette has hosted many soloists from Israel and abroad, including violinist Maxim Vengerov; mezzo-soprano, Natasha Patrinski; cellist, Michael Hern; pianist, Joachin Achucarro; composer Maxim Shostakovich and many others.  Also appearing with the Symphonette are contemporary music talents, such as, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, the Manhattan Transfer, David Broza, Nurit Galron and others.

The Raanana Symphonette is a young vibrant orchestra that has a prominent place in the world of Israeli music.
