VERY HIGH GRADES AND AN INCREASE ON ALL THE INDICES OF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION'S MEITZAV ACHIEVEMENT TESTS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2005-2006
The results of the national test administered by the Ministry of Education indicate that the education system in Raanana is one of the leaders in the country. Raanana's students scored very highly and there was an increase on all the indices of the MEITZAV test for the academic year 2005-2006, as published by the Ministry of Education last week. The MEITZAV (Efficiency and Growth in Education Indices Examination) is administered once every two years by the Ministry of Education and it evaluates the students' achievements in the fields of language, sciences, mathematics, English and school atmosphere.
The present MEITZAV tested students in the second, fifth and eighth grades in academic areas and grades five through nine in the area of school atmosphere. The weighted results are determined after comparison with all children tested throughout the country and also in comparison with schools with similar characteristics.
The students' tests in the various academic fields demonstrated ability above the national average, and also in comparison with schools in similar cities, and there was a marked increase in scores as compared with the previous MEITZAV, administered two years ago. There was an increase of 17% in the sciences, 10% in language and 10% in the English in grades five. In grades eight, there was an increase of 19% in language and 18% in mathematics.
Mayor Nahum Hofree who served as the director of the Education Division prior to his being elected to the office of mayor, expressed great satisfaction with the MEITZAV results and with the improvement in the results in comparison with the previous test. "These results, in addition to the great recognition that the municipal education system has earned, indicate the educational endeavor and commitment of all of Raanana's education system's faculty members to ensure the success of each and every student, while continually striving toward excellence and achievement." Hofree congratulated all the school principals and teachers and thanked them for their continued efforts which have led to these achievements.
