THE AWARD, PRESENTED BY THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE, CULTURE AND SPORT, WAS AWARDED TO MIRIAM AT A CEREMONY HELD AT JERUSALEM'S BINYANEI HAUMA.

Miriam Muki Prince, Manager of Raanana's Municipal Library Department, was presented the award for the National Outstanding Library Department Manager for 2007 by the Ministry Of Science, Culture and Sport. Miriam received the award at a ceremony held at Jerusalem's Binyanei Hauma.

Miriam Prince, a member of one of Raanana's founding families, has managed Raanana's Municipal Library Department for the past three decades. Thanks to her efforts, talents and original initiatives, Raanana's municipal libraries lay claim to many achievements:

Recognition from the Ministry of Education; establishment of the first conference in Israel on "The Quality of Service at Libraries"; presented the award as the outstanding library in the area of immigration absorption, established a "Center for Women's Studies"; organized exhibitions on unique subjects in conjunction with the Municipal Gallery, established the Association of Public Library Managers; and many other projects.

Miriam serves as an example of how to make books a part of the child's or adult's experience. The Municipal Library, under her management, has become a diverse library which strives to stay up-to-date with regard to aesthetics, demographics and subjects related to technology and science. For all this and more, Ms. Miriam Prince has been awarded the title of "Outstanding National Library Manager."
