DISABLED SWIMMING WORLD CHAMPION, ITZIK MAMISTAVLOV, DESCRIBED THE VICTORY OF SPIRIT OVER DISABILITY TO SHAKED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS.

IN 2005, SHAKED SCHOOL WAS RECOGNIZED BY THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION AS A SAFE SCHOOL,

THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Hundreds of Shaked School students and their parents participated last week in its traditional health day. As part of the event attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree; Supplementary Education Department Manager; Esther Sela; and physical education supervisor, Ronit Mankin, 60 different sessions were held related to the field of physical, social and mental health, and were facilitated by expert lecturers, supplementary education teachers, elementary school teachers and the students' parents.

The students were impressed by their fascinating meeting with Itzik Mamistavlov, disabled swimming world champion, who overcame his disabilities and achieved an international victory. The students also met with team members of Bnei Hasharon, Captain Erez Katz and players Osman Sisu and Nitzan Chanuchi. The students also participated in workshops on social issues related to proper diet, environmental protection; personal hygiene and dental care; the dangers of the Internet; social pressure on decision making, etc.

The diverse art projects will decorate the school's restrooms and some of them will be used as educational aids in the school's new study area dedicated to the subject of health.

In 2005, the Shaked School was recognized by the World Health Association as a safe school, the only one of its kind in the Middle East. During its health day, a special emphasis was placed on this issue at the sessions by representatives of the Electric Corporation and there was a play on the subject of road safety and various activities related to how to ride a bicycle safely.

During the health day, the school's multi-aged gymnastics team and dance groups performed in the school yard and parents and students were invited to join in the dancing.
